Teachers are one of the most respected people in society. They have the power to completely change lives. It is said that if you want to make society better, give more importance to the teachers. They have the power to change society from the root level and make real changes. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

No one deserves to be at the beginning of the list more than the first vice-president and second president of India. There is a reason we celebrate Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday as the national teacher’s day. He is a world-famous scholar in the field of philosophy and comparative religion. Also known as a famous diplomat; Order of the British Empire awarded him with the title of knighthood . In the year 1954, he was awarded Bharat Ratna; the highest civilian award of this country. With all these merits in his bag, we still love him as a teacher. He was the philosophy professor at Madras Presidency College, University of Mysore and later, University of Calcutta. In the year 1929, he was invited to teach Comparative Religion at Manchester College, Oxford. He had also been the vice-chancellor of Benaras Hindu University and Andhra University.

Until that is done, all these ideal reforms will remain ideals only.”This famous quote was said by none other than the great Hindu monk, Swami Vivekananda. He was the founder of Ramkrishna Mission, a chain of school which he named after his guru. Today, there is 214 centre of Ramkrishna Mission and Ramkrishna Math, not only in India but all across the globe. He also brought back the gurukul system, where the student would leave their home and live with their teachers and ‘Guru’. His famous speech in Parliament of the World’s Religion which happened in Chicago in the year 1893 made him world famous. He received a standing ovation for this speech.
